Learning from mistakes

Certain people get disproportionately knocked by their mistakes. They beat themselves up to such a degree that their business performance may suffer for hours, days, weeks and sometimes years. In extreme cases the individual may lose all self confidence and self esteem. Coaching helps people to seek out positives from a given situation so that they can drop their agony.

This type of distraction can affect people that you might not expect. Highly gifted people can be damaged when they do not meet their own supremely high standards. Coaching helps perfectionists to create a greater sense of realism in what they do. This almost invariably increases their performance, profitability and sense of wellbeing.

A business culture where all risk taking is off bounds, or disproportionately punished, creates cultural sterility where the best people often leave.

Your new strengths and abilities

  • Agony replaced by a 'toolbox' of alternative positive actions.
  • Increased self confidence in talking about problems instead of hiding them.
  • Enlightened attitude towards risk and how to manage it.

Did you know?

Attitudes to making mistakes are embedded in your subconscious during childhood. Parents and teachers can help children by providing a healthier approach to making mistakes - which doesn't involve shouting at the child. There are many ways to help people to learn from mistakes in a positive way so that they do not make the same mistake twice.

Who would benefit?

Perfectionists, team leaders, managers and anyone disproportionately affected by making errors.
